Laurie Hannula is pictured in the early 1980s with the latest dive equipment at that time. Hannula began diving in 1977 and made a career of teaching and dive store operations, first in Vancouver at Underwater Sports and later as the owner of Pacific Watersports. Hannula was always eager to try new equipment, and she provided valuable feedback to manufacturers regarding new equipment innovations. (Courtesy of Laurie Hannula.)

In this photograph are a couple of wild characters: Roddy Winton (left) and Jon Hayes. Both of these men have been traveling up and down the coast for about 40 years, selling dive gear to retail stores, and they have loved their Oregon coast diving adventures. Winton relocated from Texas in the 1970s to represent TUSA (Tabata USA) and Hayes represents Oceanic; those are two of the leading diving equipment manufacturers. The men are competitors, but good friends as well. (Courtesy of Floyd Holcom.)
